From Soil to Bale: How We Grow Quality Hay You Can Count On

It All Starts with the Soil Before we ever plant, we focus on getting the soil just right. Healthy fields mean healthier forage, so we monitor our soil conditions and add what's needed to support strong, balanced growth.

Here’s a look at the process we follow to grow clean, nutrient-rich hay from the ground up:

Field Prep & Tilling

Depending on what was previously planted and harvested, we either till the field or use a less invasive method to prepare the soil. The goal is to create the right conditions for new seed to take root.

Seeding

Once the ground is ready, we drill the seed directly into the soil. This method helps ensure even coverage and strong germination.

Early Growth & Fertilization

After the seed begins to sprout and establish itself, we apply nutrient-dense compost to nourish the crop and promote healthy, vigorous growth. We enhance the soil with composted leaf matter, mushroom compost, and similar materials.

Monitoring & Maturity

We keep a close eye on the hay as it grows, watching for the right time to harvest based on maturity, weather, and field conditions.

Cutting & Drying

When it’s ready, we cut the hay and let it dry naturally in the field.

Tedding & Raking

After some drying time, we tedder the hay to help it dry evenly. Then we rake it into neat windrows, ready for baling.

Baling & Loading

Once the hay is dry and ready, we bale it up and load it for transport.

Storage

Finally, the bales are stored in a dry, protected area to preserve their quality until they’re ready to be sold or delivered.

Our Approach to Growing. We farm with a long-term mindset. Every choice we make-whether it's what we plant or how we manage our fields-is done with quality and consistency in mind. Clean fields, healthy growth, and steady attention to detail all contribute to producing the kind of hay our customers know they can rely on. Planting with Purpose When it comes time to seed, we choose the best forage types for our soil and your animals. We focus on producing hay that's both palatable and nutritious. We prep the fields for even growth and strong yields, and we time our planting to set the season up for success. Good hay is all about timing. We pay close attention to maturity, weather, and field conditions before we start cutting.

That careful timing gives you hay that is:

Clean and green

Rich in nutrients

Low in dust and debris

And most importantly dry

We don't cut corners-just quality hay

The end result? Bales you can rely on. Whether you're feeding horses, cattle, goats, or sheep, we're growing hay that's consistent and clean season after season. Our hay is handled with care and stored properly so it stays fresh, dry, and ready when you need it.

Follow Our Season. We're excited to bring you along for the ride. As the season unfolds, we'll keep sharing what's happening in the field, from planting to harvest.

Thanks for supporting us and entrusting us to feed your animals. We'll keep the bales coming!
